This morning I put a Christmas CD into the stereo, so Dad and I could enjoy the wonderful Christmas songs. As I was playing the CD and thoroughly enjoying the wonderful music, I began thinking about church Christmas plays.
Lots of hard work and fun has gone into the production of these time-honored plays. My church is having a Kids Christmas Play this year, named “A King Is Coming”. Each year these joyous Christmas productions help to instill within us a feeling of blessedness by our honoring and remembering the wondrous birth of the Messiah, Jesus.
When a child is part of a church Christmas play, it is an event that will stay with them throughout their life. I can still remember the church Christmas plays my sister and I participated in when we grew up. We were full of excitement and thoroughly enjoyed each rehearsal. The ladies of the church made our precious angel attire. It was indeed a highlight of being in the play when we put on our much-loved angel outfits.
Another unforgettable part about being in a church Christmas play was those endearing Christmas songs. We sang the songs often in those weeks before Christmas, not just to learn the words but because we truly loved them.
Two songs that were always part of our childhood Christmas plays were “Hark The Herald Angels Sing” and “O Come All Ye Faithful”. These are two of my favorite Christmas songs to this day. Here’s a medley I displayed on a previous post that contains these wonderful songs:
Thought I’d include another wonderful Christmas song that we all love and cherish, “Silent Night”.
If possible, I encourage you to attend a church Christmas play this Christmas. Whether you have children in the play or not, it will be a blessing for you.
Until the next time, may the Lord bless and watch over you.
Always Smiles,
Gin
