The past week has been a difficult week for me and my family for our journey this week has taken us to one of life’s valleys. My uncle died unexpectedly on Sunday from a heart attack. Although we know that he is with the Lord now, his presence in our earthly lives will be forever missed and always loved.
It appeared as though the day was a typical day for my uncle. A neighbor, whom had grown some watermelons on my uncle’s land, brought some over to my uncle’s house for them to enjoy. There is a cellar at my uncle’s home and he took a couple of watermelons down to the cellar to store and then carried one into the kitchen. When the watermelon was sliced it made a popping sound. My uncle tasted the watermelon and told his loving wife that the watermelon did not taste right that it might be too ripe.
After he had tasted the watermelon, he proceeded to the kitchen door but his earthly journeyed ended, when he slid to the floor and took a couple of deep breaths due to a massive heart attack that overtook his body.
I wanted to share this personal event in my family’s life as a reminder that our life on earth is short. We all have friends and loved ones that have not received Jesus as their saviour, as well as countless others souls throughout the world. In Matthew KJV 7:13 we find “Enter ye in at the strait gate; for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:” Let these words be a constant reminder for us to be in continual prayer and faithfully witnessing to family and friends and the countless others souls who have not accepted Jesus as their saviour. We should remember that our journey here on earth is but for a short time and there is nothing more important in our life than faithfully praying and witnessing to the lost.
We rejoice in the fact that my uncle was a wonderful person that loved his family and friends, but most of all he truly loved the Lord and his earthly journey was with the Lord at his side. Although the next few weeks will be difficult for the family in adjusting to life without my uncle’s presence; we are able to take great comfort in knowing that he is now with our heavenly Father.
Always Smiles,
Gin
