This morning I was awaken by Gracie’s paw gently digging into my hair. Gracie tends to be reserved in the morning, until I make my awakening presence known. However, her behavior deviated from its normal course this morning. As I shifted my body to begin the initial awakening process, I noticed that the hour hand [...]

Just got off the phone with my niece, she wanted my driver’s license number so she could put me on the pickup list at school for my great-nephew. I was amazed to learn that for the schools in my area, it looks like 7 August will be the time when the doors will open for [...]

As the rollers on my chair gently guide me to the familiar location of my loyal computer desk, I find my eyes shifting to the lower right side of the computer screen to capture that ever-so-present element of time. My mind begins shifting through the list of things I have planned for the evening and [...]

From time to time we all take that stroll down memory lane and today was that time for me. After performing my daily evening meal routine at Dad’s, decided to drop by my sister’s house to check on her recent health battle. She had been confined to the bed for the last couple of days [...]

The wee hours of the morning had made it’s presence known, as I shifted my position to look at the small numbers on my faithful clock that displayed in solemn silence and with total accuracy the formidable numbers of 12:10. I had been totally absorbed in the development of a project that had my [...]

During yesterday’s prayer meeting, an elderly prayer warrior gave an inspiring testimony. Her testimony has surfaced to my thoughts several times since the meeting, so thought I’d share with you her powerful testimony. It appeared to start out as a familiar and typical day for my sweet spirited sister. She was in [...]

The familiar presence of the pronounced” Road Closed” sign directed my thoughts toward the progress that has thus far been accomplished on the road’s high profile construction project. My daily commuting trip to my elderly folks has been lengthened by the formidable presence of the detour. Driving skills are fully engaged adhering to [...]

I was awaken this morning by the sweet chirping sounds of birds and the lazy snuggly stretch of my dog Gracie. What a great way to start the day! It is a peaceful, sunny day here in the Appalachians. The distant sound of a lawn mower performing its weekly job and [...]

Midnight has just slipped by and remnants of fireworks still echo in the night. The 4th of July has officially been ushered in. The day ahead for most will be filled with excitement that is generated from family barbeques, reunions, picnics, fun and games, and of course more fireworks. It is a time to commune [...]

Found myself reflecting back on a recent visit I made to an elderly friend. She is a truly wonderful lady. She has a Chihuahua dog named Gizmo who is her faithful companion. As the first signs of darkness starts to invade the evening, she removes him from his chain and brings him into the house [...]

As I stepped from the porch onto the old stone step at my Dad’s this evening, I raised my head and glimpsed toward the mountains. Not sure what drew my attention to the mountains for the reason why quickly past. At the time I was preoccupied with the health issues of my elderly parents and [...]
