Gracie
Beginnings…. this was a day that stood out with a venue of beginnings. The start of my journal entry was a high mark in the venue. Being neither a writer nor possessing traits that would define me as articulate, my journey on this path is filled with both apprehension and excitement. Speaking of excitement this was “my day” that celebrates “my beginning” yes my birthday. Cake, ice cream, cards, gifts, family and friends filled the day with true joy. Not the type of day that was clamored with bells and whistles but nestled with true warmth and love. Reflecting on this brought to mind scripture from Jeremiah KJV (1:5) “Before I formed thee in thy belly I knew thee”… I’m sure this is as true for us today, as it was for the prophet Jeremiah. How wondrous, before I was even conceived the Lord already knew me! Just think his relationship with us starts before we are even born. He has filled my life with “agape” (Godly) love, which has no limits. While the love of family and friends is so important in our lives, it cannot begin to compare with the love our heavenly Father has for us. His true, unmistakable expression of love for us was the gift of his Son at Calvary. Now that is indeed love without boundaries, true “agape” love.
Another “beginning” in this day’s journey was seeing the “beginning” of my dog Gracie’s, dormant and extremely shy personality start to unfold. I adopted her from a local animal shelter about 2 1/2 months ago. The animal care technicians at the shelter told me Gracie had been abused when they got her, and was so scared that she totally shied away from everything and everybody. They spent time with her and were able to help her to a certain degree overcome some of her shyness and fears. What wonderful hearts these people have. However, that shield of protectiveness, cloaked with fear and shyness, still remains a fixture in her life. Today being my birthday, I spent with my Mother and of course Gracie came with me. As usual, she crawled under the bed; however, she only stayed there for short periods of time and would soon come out and start actively exploring the house. It thrilled my heart to see her roaming so freely outside her normal home domain. Regardless, whether she ever truly overcomes her fears and shyness, she is a true “sweetheart” and I’ll always love her. Just as Christ always love us. In closure, would like to share with you scripture that was on one of my birthday cards, Psalms KJV (145:9) “The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.” “Good to all” and “all his works” includes both you and me! Until the next time, may the Lord bless and watch over you.
Always Smiles,
Gin
